libfam-dev software package provides Client library to control the FAM daemon - development files, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libfam-dev
libfam-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libfam-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libfam-dev *
You will get with libfam-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
